Welcome to Something Matters
These Terms of Service govern your use of Something Matters, a habit-tracking platform operated by TOKIMONO STUDIO INC. ("Something Matters," "we," "us," or "our"), a Canadian corporation based in Vancouver, British Columbia.
By using Something Matters, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use our service.

1. What Something Matters Does
Something Matters helps you build small habits with gentle accountability. Here's how it works:
- Track daily habits with simple check-ins
- Join public or create private groups for shared accountability
- See your progress and streaks over time
- Connect with others practicing similar habits
2. Who Can Use Something Matters
You must be at least 18 years old to use Something Matters. By creating an account, you confirm you meet this age requirement.
3. Your Account
Creating an account:
You'll provide accurate information including your email address, username, and name. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
Your responsibility:
You're responsible for all activity under your account. If you think someone has accessed your account without permission, let us know immediately at info@tokimono.studio.
4. Zero Tolerance for Objectionable Content and Abusive Users
Something Matters has a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content and abusive behavior. By using Something Matters, you agree to the following:
- You will not post, share, or transmit any content that is offensive, abusive, harassing, threatening, obscene, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable
- You will not engage in bullying, harassment, hate speech, or any form of abusive behavior toward other users
- You will not post content that promotes violence, self-harm, illegal activities, or discrimination
- You will not post sexually explicit, pornographic, or exploitative content
- You will not post spam, misleading, or fraudulent content
Violation of this policy may result in immediate removal of your content and permanent suspension of your account without prior warning.
5. How You Can Use Something Matters
You can:
- Create and track your daily habits ("Matters")
- Join public groups or create private groups
- Check in daily and track your progress
- Share your check-ins with your groups
- View other group members' progress
- Delete or edit your own check-ins
- Report inappropriate content or behavior
- Block abusive users to remove their content from your feed
- Flag objectionable content for review
You can't:
- Use Something Matters for anything illegal or harmful
- Harass, bully, or abuse other users
- Post objectionable, offensive, or abusive content of any kind
- Create fake accounts or impersonate others
- Share your account credentials
- Scrape or automatically collect data from the platform
- Try to hack, reverse engineer, or disrupt our service
- Spam groups with irrelevant or promotional content
- Use the service to promote illegal activities, self-harm, or eating disorders
- Violate other users' privacy by sharing their information without consent
6. Content Filtering and Moderation
Content Filtering
Something Matters employs content filtering to help maintain a safe and supportive community. We may use automated and manual methods to identify and remove objectionable content.
Flagging Objectionable Content
If you encounter content that you believe is objectionable, inappropriate, or violates these Terms:
- Use the Report button available on any check-in or content item to flag it for review
- Reports can be submitted directly within the app
- You may also report content by emailing info@tokimono.studio with details
Blocking Abusive Users
If you encounter an abusive user:
- Use the Block User option available on any user's content to block them
- Blocking a user will:
- Immediately remove all of their content from your feed and activity views
- Notify our team of the inappropriate behavior for review
- Prevent the blocked user's future content from appearing in your feed
- You can unblock users at any time through your settings
Our Commitment to Content Moderation
- We will review and act on all content reports within 24 hours
- Objectionable content will be removed promptly upon verification
- Users who post objectionable content will be ejected from the platform
- Repeat offenders will be permanently banned
- In urgent cases involving safety concerns, we may take immediate action before completing our review
7. Groups and Community
Public Groups
- Anyone using Something Matters can join public groups
- Your check-ins and progress are visible to all group members
- Public groups are discoverable to other users
Private Groups
- You control who can join your private group
- Only invited members can see group content
- You can remove members or leave groups at any time
Group Visibility
- Group members can see each other's check-ins and progress
- Group admins have the same visibility as regular members (no special admin access to data)
- Only group members can see what happens inside the group—non-members cannot see public group activity
Your Responsibilities in Groups
- Be respectful and supportive
- Don't share other members' information outside the group
- Report inappropriate behavior to info@tokimono.studio
- Follow our community guidelines (be kind, be honest, be supportive)
8. Content and Data
Your Content
- The habits you track, check-ins you create, and content you share are yours
- By using Something Matters, you give us permission to store and display your content to provide the service
- We don't own your habit data or personal progress
Deleting Content
- You can delete or edit individual check-ins anytime
- You can delete your entire account anytime
- When you delete content, it's removed from active use but may remain in backups temporarily (see Privacy Policy)
Our Rights
- We can remove content that violates these Terms
- We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate our policies
- We don't actively moderate groups, but we respond to reports of violations
9. Reporting and Enforcement
If you see something inappropriate:
- Use the Report button on the content or group to flag it immediately
- You can also report it to info@tokimono.studio
- Include details about what happened and where
What happens when rules are violated:
- We review all reports and take action within 24 hours
- Objectionable content is removed immediately upon verification
- Users who post objectionable content will have their accounts suspended or permanently banned
- In serious cases, we may delete the account and all associated data immediately
- We're not obligated to provide warnings before taking action
- Blocked users' content is immediately removed from the reporting user's feed
10. Pricing and Payment
Current Status:
Something Matters is currently free to use while we build our community.
Future Plans:
We may introduce paid plans or premium features in the future. If we do:
- We'll notify you in advance
- Existing users will have access to their data regardless of payment status
- We'll clearly communicate what features require payment
No Refunds:
When we introduce paid plans, payments will generally be non-refundable unless required by law.
11. Health and Wellness Disclaimer
Important: Something Matters is a habit-tracking tool, not medical advice or treatment.
- We're not healthcare providers and don't offer medical, mental health, or fitness advice
- Don't use Something Matters as a substitute for professional help
- If you're struggling with your health, mental health, or have concerns about eating disorders or self-harm, please speak with a qualified professional
- Tracking habits should feel supportive, not stressful—if it becomes overwhelming, take a break
12. Privacy and Data
Your privacy matters to us. Our separate Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data. By using Something Matters, you also agree to our Privacy Policy.
Important privacy highlights:
- We collect your email, name, username, profile photo, and all your habit tracking data
- Group members can see your check-ins and progress within shared groups
- We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the app
- Your data is stored in Canada and the United States
- We don't sell your data to anyone

13. Device Permissions
Something Matters may request permission to access:
- Notifications: To send you reminders and updates about group activity
- Calendar: To schedule habit reminders
- Health data: To integrate with Apple Health (future feature)
You can manage these permissions in your device settings. Denying permissions may limit some features.
14. What We're Not Responsible For
Something Matters is provided "as is." We work hard to make it reliable and helpful, but we can't guarantee:
- The service will always be available or error-free
- Your use will lead to better habits or outcomes
- Other users will behave appropriately
- Data will never be lost (though we do regular backups)
Limitation of liability:
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we're not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Something Matters. Our total liability to you won't exceed the amount you paid us in the 6 months before the issue arose, or $100 CAD, whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you.
15. If Things Go Wrong
If you have a problem:
Contact us first at info@tokimono.studio. We'll do our best to work it out.
If we can't resolve it:
Any disputes will be governed by the laws of British Columbia and Canada. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Vancouver, British Columbia for any legal proceedings.
16. When These Terms Change
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you (usually by email or through the app). Continuing to use Something Matters after changes means you accept the new terms.
17. When Service Ends
You can stop using Something Matters anytime by deleting your account in your settings.
We might suspend or terminate your account if:
- You violate these Terms or our community guidelines
- You engage in harmful behavior toward other users
- Your account appears to be compromised
- We're required to by law
- We decide to stop offering the service (we'll give you reasonable notice)
What happens to your data:
When you delete your account, we remove your data according to our Privacy Policy. You should export any information you want to keep before deleting your account (note: export feature may not be available—contact us for assistance).
18. The Fine Print
Entire agreement:
These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, are the complete agreement between us.
Independent contractors:
Using Something Matters doesn't create any partnership, employment, or agency relationship.
Severability:
If part of these Terms isn't enforceable, the rest still applies.
No waiver:
If we don't enforce a provision, that doesn't mean we waive the right to enforce it later.
Assignment:
We may transfer our rights and obligations to another company (for example, if we're acquired). You can't transfer your rights without our permission.
